CCCO Showcases Recording Artist Elizabeth Hunter Ashley

Lyric coloratura soprano and recording artist Elizabeth Hunter Ashley will appear in concert with The Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the historic El Campanil Theater in Antioch.  

The program, “With a Song and a Smile”, features the radiant Danville resident singing works by American composers that reflect a wide range of styles: “Ain’t It a Pretty Night” from Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, “Summertime” from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and three songs from the two volumes of Old American Songs, set by Aaron Copland, including “Simple Gifts.”

The dynamic orchestra will also present well-loved songs from Hollywood and Broadway musicals by Richard Rodgers, Irving Berlin, and Hoagy Carmichael.
